Legendary bodybuilder Ed Giuliani passed away on May 3, 2022, at the age of 87. He was a Muscle Beach Hall of Famer. Ed Giuliani was a well-known figure in the bodybuilding community, particularly during the 1960s and 1970s. Many may recall him for his appearances in Pumping Iron. His incredible bodybuilding career lasted for over four decades. Eddie trained with and competed against many of the great champions of bodybuilding.

I first met Ed in 1971 on my annual summer photo and filming trip to LA. It was not till 1977 that we finally had our big shoot. It took place at the Marina Beach on the day after he competed in the 1977 IFBB Mr America in LA. He had competed in the Lightweight Class placing 2^nd to Danny Padilla. We did B&W and colour photos and then shot a pumping and posing movie. He was in top shape that day. Yesterday (January 2026) I found the original colour transparencies and have now scanned and presented them in this new colour gallery.

At the end of the shoot, Ed said that he had a garage full of about 150 trophies and that he had no room for anymore. He said that he was going to start giving them away or toss some out to make room for any new trophies. I always wondered if he was serious. As it turned out he did win more trophies over the following 5 years, retiring at the end of 1982. Congratulations Eddie on a magnificent career. May you Rest in Peace.
